Terry Fox Charity Run

"Terrance Stanley "Terry" Fox, (July 28, 1958 – June 28, 1981) was a Canadian humanitarian, athlete, and cancer research activist. In 1980, with one leg having been amputated, he embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi), and ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy.

Thus, the Terry Fox Run, an annual non-competitive charity event is held in numerous regions around the world in commemoration of him, and his Marathon of Hope, and to raise money for cancer research.

This is my first time joining this event, although this year is the 10th edition in Malaysia. Dulu belum start lari lagi so I didn't know about it.

Ready to start...

Oh yeah.. if you don't wanna run, you can walk, wheel or ride. The choice is yours on how you wanna complete the course. Hmm... maybe I can wheel next year. Haven't skate for years, I should sharpen up my skill once in a while.

The event was held in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, so it was a refreshing change from my weekly run on the treadmill.

As it was only a 3km event and held at a beautiful lake garden, many came with families, taking the opportunity to bring their toddler for a fresh morning air, while doing charity.

Alhamdulillah... so far there is no history of cancer in my family but I do believe that we should work together to outrun it. And by participating in this event, I hope this is a good start.
