What are you running for?

That's the question I asked myself while I was running the Siemens Run last Sunday.

When I registered myself for the run, I didn't think much about it. I just wanted to run. The question only strucked me when a guy ran past me and he wrote "I ran for my abah" (something like that I forgot already) at the back of his vest. That made me thought for a while. What was I running for? The medal? The certificate? Morning exercise? PBIM training? To fill my time? Heck! I was blank. I couldn't find a cause.

with the FMVs.. Kak June, finally we met! hehe

The run was fun. I came across runners who ran in kain batik and clown costume. And then, there's also a guy who ran while pushing a stroller with his baby sleeping inside it. I guessed everybody just wanted to have a good time whilst doing something healthy.

The route was familiar. A combination of SCKLM and NB Pacesetters 15km. The toughest part being the hilly terrain of Bukit Tunku and the mind-challenging u-turn nearby Sogo. When you thought the finishing line was almost near you could already heard the cheers, the lively music from the carnival, the MCs talking and yet, you still had 3km to run. FML. I hated that turn.

Kudos to the organizers though as they lined up cheerleaders and drummers at the last km of the route along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. It's the element I found missing in major running event. The much needed moral support. Their cheers and the drum beats sure motivated me to keep on running.

the usual suspects

Anyway, I finally decided my cause towards the finishing line. I ran for hope.
